SALT LAKE CITY — A man was seriously injured after being struck by a TRAX train Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. at the Ballpark Station, 180 West 1300 South. Preliminary reports show the man was distracted and walked in the path of the TRAX train, Utah Transit Authority spokesman Carl Arky said.

The man was underneath the train in serious condition, and was alert and breathing, Arky said. Rescue crews were able to reach the man and transported him to a hospital.

A bus bridge was temporarily put into place from 900 South to Central Pointe Station, but has since been canceled.
